MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SIZING & MEASUREMENTS
HOW WE MEASURE A CLOTHING TOP
A top is measured lying flat and un-stretched. The “width” of a top, is measured from armpit to armpit. This number multiplied by two is the bust size! The length of the top is taken at the collar to the bottom.
HOW WE MEASURE A CLOTHING BOTTOM
A bottom is measured lying flat and un-stretched. The “width” of a pant or a skirt is measured from side to side. This number multiplied by two is the waist size!
Different clothing brands, or countries, have multiple standards into what sizes are small, medium, or large. Here at Onatoko, we will give you the measurements to help determine the fit. The first thing to do, however, is to know your body measurements. Some people like it tight, some like it worn loose. There is also the fabric stretch factor. Usually, we recommend adding one to one-and-a-half inch variance to top measurements due to the stretch of the item. We also recommend that you measure your own clothes laid flat and un-stretched, to determine what is the best kind of fit.
GUIDE TO TAKING YOUR OWN MEASUREMENTS
Bust size: Using a measuring tape, measure under your arms at the fullest part of your bust.
Sleeve: Place your hand on your hip with your arm bent at 90 degrees. Using a measuring tape, start measuring at the middle of your back, across your shoulder, around your elbow, and down to the wrist. (This is one of the hardest measurements to take by yourself, so it might be worthwhile to get someone to help you!)
Waistline: Using a measuring tape, measure around waistline where your pants normally hang. Allow some room for a comfortable fit.
Hips: Using a measuring tape, measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Inseams: Lay your favorite pair of pants that fit you, and using a measuring tape, measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the pant leg. Remember to add some required inches depending on the kind of shoes that you choose to wear with your pants.
